WHAT DOES THE
GEL TECHNOLOGY MEAN?
In order to provide comfort of work and sense of safety for the installators, Atlas has developed unique recipe, which facilitates usage of the modern building materials, enhances its durability and ensures the quick completion of Customer`s orders.
A new adhesives of the Geoflex family were designed with use of the innovative technology of a siliceous gel and its unique ability for bonding the water. Owing to accumulation of the water, the adhesive ensures high bonding strength and excellent adhesion to the standard substrates as well as the critical ones (e.g. non-permeable or heated over +35°C), regardless of the ambient conditions and a type of installed cladding.
Tile
Atlas Geoflex is an adhesive for any type or size of the tiles, including large-sized, over 5 m2 (Atlas Ultra Geoflex)

In order to test C2FT-compliant fast set adhesives, we conducted a number of tests – both in field and in laboratory conditions. The competitors were Geoflex Express and two adhesives of the same class offered on the market.
During the tests we took into account:
- Thickness of the adhesive
- Test time
- Mixing water
- Temperature and humidity
- Adhesion
Geoflex Express achieves the adhesive strength required by the norm for fast set adhesives after 6 hours in less than 3 hours. Its adhesion after 6 hours is of 1.0 MPa – the level C2FT-class adhesives must reach after 28 days!
The adhesive Geoflex Express ensures very short time until it is possible to walk on tiles and grout them and thereby offers the tiler unprecedented opportunities to plan and execute their work.
7 out of 10 professionals who took part in a blind test of S1 adhesives, have chosen Atlas Ultra Geoflex among other available products. The group of 10 contractors with a few years of experience in the construction works, who do not use Atlas products on a daily basis took part in this competition. Their job was to evaluate the adhesives of the S1 class in terms of specific parameters:

Preparation of the mortar – dusting, mixing and consistency of mixture with any possible type of water;

Application of the adhesive – convenient spread, distribution and stability of the adhesive;

Flow – which has an impact on comfort of the work;

Convenient spread underneath the tiles – tiles does not collapse under the weights and spread of an adhesive underneath the tile is effortless for the contractor.
After 4-days tests there were no doubts – Atlas Geoflex was chosen by 7 out of 10 installators, who used it with water/dry mix ratio according to their discretion, as well as in accordance to the manufacturer`s guidelines.

On a basis of a blind test of the three leading C2TE gel adhesive mortars, the best one was chosen. The first place of a podium was taken by the Atlas Geoflex. A 7 out of 10 professionals has marked it as 4.5 out of 5 while only a three of them have chosen a different product.
The participants were assessing product in terms of following categories:

Preparation of the mortar: dusting, convenience of the mixing and consistency of the adhesive;

Application of the adhesive: formation of a skin on the top of freshly applied adhesive, which defines the time when it keeps its bonding properties;

Flow from the walls even in a case of the tiles bonded facing each other;

Spread underneath the tiles on the floor which has impact on tiles subsiding under the weight
The contractors valued Atlas Geoflex adhesives, in terms of the best consistency, taken into consideration its density, effortless stirring and high bonding. They have also noticed that the consumption of the Atlas Geoflex is significantly lower than the products of the same class from different manufacturers.

How does the gel work?
The gel additives based on minerals including montmorillonite constitutes the breakthrough gel technology. Its main attribute is outstanding ability for absorbing the water – 1 g of this material can absorb approx. 5 g of water, owing to its structural arrangement. Montmorillonite contains crystals arranged in a layers. While moistened, water is kept between following layers and forms so called sandwich structure – layers of the crystals and layers of the water are located alternately. Water accumulated in the structure forms the silica gel. Gel reservoir decreases water evaporation during sunny days or its absorption by absorptive or wrongly prepared substrates.
Which adhesives should be used in increased temperatures?
While the temperature is high, water evaporates quickly – it`s a fact, concerning also a batched water contained in the adhesive – if water evaporates, the durability and bonding is decreased. A solution for that problem is to choose the product which has increased water retention. All the products from Geoflex family contain siliceous gel which bonds the water and allows for full cement hydration even in the most difficult weather conditions.
What are the opportunities of two variants of mixing ratio?
A siliceous gel contained in adhesives from the Geoflex family allows for adjustment of consistency by amount of added mix water (in a range defined by Technical Data Sheet). Allows for adjusting working properties to individual needs related to the application conditions and the Contractor`s preferences. Any adhesive of the Geoflex family can be prepared as a mortar with zero flow – which allows for installation of the cladding from the top without the need to support tiles from the bottom, but also in more spreadable form, which ensures a full support even for the largest formats, without subsiding under a heavy load of the tiles. That capability is a guarantee of safety – reduces the danger of pouring too much water.
Why the Geoflex White is white?
Thoroughly selected aggregates and white cement is used for manufacturing of this special adhesive. White cement is manufactured from selected raw materials containing minimum contents of colourful oxides (mainly iron, manganese, titanium and chromium oxides). Its content does not exceed usually 0.3% mass. Another factor is a method of combustion – in order to avoid contamination of cement with ashes from carbon, the heating oil or gas is used as a fuel. Geoflex white is characterized by easy correction just like any other gel adhesives. Rapid growth of strength resulting from content of white cement allows for grouting 12 h after application of adhesive. Gel technology with a wide range of batched water allows for obtaining a full spread underneath the tile and in combination with unified bright colour guarantees no discolouration on stoneware, glass and composite tiles.
What does the rheology mean?
Rheology is a branch of science which can be broken down to easiness of mixing and application. Modification of cement and fillers can facilitate mixing of the Geoflex adhesives with water, even with a very short mixing. Obtained consistency seems like lightweight and fluffy. Product sticks perfectly to the tools, does not flow from a vertical surfaces. Adhesive is stable and does not subside even in a thick layer. These are the unique parameters of the Geoflex adhesives.
What does 3 in 1 mean?
The adhesives from the Geoflex family can be used in range of thickness from 2 up to 15 mm per layer. It allows for:
- thin-coat fixing of the tiles on unified surface
- fixing of a tiles and levelling of an uneven surface at
the same time - filling major cavities on walls and floors
All of above can be done with the one product.
Which GEOFLEX adhesive is the quickest?
Geoflex Express is the quickest one of Geoflex adhesives. Allows for walk on and grouting just 2 hours after cladding installation.
Ideal for redecoration and renovation works. For quick bathroom renovation, as well as in the event of need for quick replacement of one tile.
